Sample Topic:
To what extent do you agree or disagree with full-time, online lectures?

Until recently, online classes as a substitute for in-class lecturing was merely a theoretical topic. But nowadays, a majority of students have had the experience of remote learning. Although there are benefits to distant-learning, it cannot completely replace in-person attendance at educational institutions.

As a temporary measure, the impact of remote schooling would not be very significant. Not seeing one’s classmates for a week or two is not a problem. Youths may even enjoy the convenience of not having to commute to school for a couple of weeks.

Yet, after several weeks of learning from home, many parents began to express concern over their children’s newly developed habits. Some students started taking their online classes right in bed, with their notebook computers on their lap. They were attempting to learn – in pajamas and feeling groggy. Others have started to multi-task, such as having snacks and streaming on Netflix while half-heartedly trying to keep up with their classes.

In addition to the accumulation of knowledge from lectures, social development in the school setting is also an important part of growing up. Many adults have expressed deep regret for not being more involved while they were attending school. They wish they had joined a sports team, played in a band, or participated in more extra-curricula activities.

Although the comfort and convenience of learning from home is indeed very appealing, in-person attendance at educational facilities is also an essential part of growing up. There is no question that online-learning has its merits, but students should still spend, at minimum, two to three days a week in the school setting.
